The Magical Adventures of the McRoberts Tea Collective

Though we are spread across the continent, we can still enjoy tea and creativity.

Hi.

I am making a brief reappearance in this area of cyberspace to give an update on my current status in the non-cyberspace world.

I’ve been working at the Quilchena golf club for about a month now as a server for banquets and weddings on the weekends. Basically it means that I have to pour wine like a pro, clear dishes constantly and keep those water glasses filled with water AND ice, not just one or the other (believe me, this is difficult). Just recently I also picked up hostessing at White Spot, where they work me like heck because I’m at the very bottom rung of the seniority ladder. I smile at people, give them menus, clear half-eaten Pirate Paks, reset cutlery and smile at other people in the restaurant. But this makes it sound like I don’t really like either of these jobs. This is not true. I love being around people that I don’t know because I can constantly make first impressions.

I know that this summer holds lots of working for me, but I want to do other new things too! Yesterday, I went out to dim-sum with a couple and their daughter from church. Michaela (younger sister) hated me for dragging her along because she is very picky and I was kind of the one who suggested that we do dim-sum, but overall it was a fascinating experience. The food is carted around on trolleys and when it arrives they snip in half with scissors! But you all probably knew that already. Also, I want to start drinking green tea throughout the day. So many cultures advertise its health benefits.

Also, Meghan and I deduced that most of our sentences start with “also.” This is not a good habit.

well, not for real, but I did enjoy watching Once with Mike and Dana and Agnes on Saturday night terribly much.

So, I’m currently on my Reading Break from TW… haven’t done a heck of a lot. Went to see Be Kind, Rewind with the aforementioned trio on Saturday night. Attended church on Sunday, hung out with other people… cleaned out my living quarters ’cause I’m moving into Michaela’s room. I’m currently underneath the kitchen and much too loud for sleeping. It’s quite irritating to have to wear ear plugs all the time and I swear that my actual ear shape has changed inside because my earphones fall out when I’m running and listening to my mp3 player… arg. Anyways… getting all 4 wisdom teeth out on Friday and then back to school Monday! Joy.

School is going super well currently. Feeling like I have lots of friends out there and lots of stuff to keep me occupied on campus. Still working on detoxing from the amount of coffee that I consume daily, but I really love being away from home and being on such a beautiful campus. With the weather we had last week it was positively gorgeous and such a welcome change from the wet and cold.

In other news, got my hair chopped off the last week of January and I’m gonna be working working working all summer long…

I’m finding life opportunity-filled but somehow I’m a bit lacking… I need someone or something.

I am simply the most blonde person possible at this moment. Holy CRACKERS. Just figured out how to navigate this site and that I needed to sign in as administration to post to this blog. My gosh. I can’t get over how stupid I am. What the heck am I doing in university of all places?!

Just got back from spending a weekend at Pender Island with the fam… classes are treating me wonderfully and I didn’t have TOO much reading weighing on me, although I do have to finish the first 5 books of the Bible before the second week of October and I’m only at 3 and 3/4. I’m finding this Old Testament class positively fascinating! Our prof litteraly bounces in front of us when getting excited about Ishmael and Hagar or the battle of Jericho. Crazy stuff. Discussion groups for that class make my weekend.

And get this. I actually read Zone for the first time EVER. I know.

English is ten times better sans Pentland, Psych is pretty neat and Bio is terrible- we have a freaking 3 hour lab starting at 8 am every Tuesday…

BUT I MISS YOU ALL TERRIBLY. And I miss our dear photo room. Lack of art and tea is eroding me. And with that, I must be off to bed- 9 o’clock class tomorrow and we have to make the commute to Langely.

Now that I understand this site, I will definitely come back to comment and post updates!! -Bethany
